iClimateAction
Climate data consistency. Informed decisions. Shared action.
From satellites in space to sensors on the ground and community-based observations, more climate data is being collected today than ever before. But when data comes from so many different sources, it can leave decision-makers struggling to piece together a full and consistent picture. Gaps, overlaps and inconsistencies make it harder to act, at a time when climate action cannot wait.
iClimateAction sets out to change this.
The project brings together three leading organizations - the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) - to align on Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) and strengthen coordination. The objective is to make a climate data assessment, so it is clear, consistent and ready to use.
Funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, iClimateAction supports efforts to ensure that climate information powers better decisions, helping communities, governments and businesses in taking effective action for people and planet.
